Dr. Jonathan J. McReynolds

Rev. Dr. Jonathan Jamel McReynolds is a native of Paducah, Kentucky. He is a fourth-generation clergyman and was licensed and ordained by his grandfather, the late Dr. W.G. Harvey Sr. He is currently under the pastoral covering of the legendary Rev. Dr. Frank E. Ray Sr. and the 5000 member New Salem Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee and Bishop LaRita Horton, who is the pastor of his home church in Paducah, Kentucky.

Rev. Dr. McReynolds entered into the Christian ministry in 1991. He is a graduate of the Historic Wilberforce University, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Management. He holds graduate degrees from the United Theological Seminary in Christian Ministry and Pastoral Care and Counseling. He is also an Executive Studies Graduate of Harvard Divinity School, with a certification in Church-Based Economic and Community Development.

Rev. Dr. McReynolds is a Faculty Mentor at the United Theological Seminary, which is the second largest United Methodist Seminary in the country. He teaches the Pastoral Care and Counseling Cohort, which is one of the largest cohorts in the doctoral program. He also served on the Board of Trustees at the United Theological Seminary. He has vast experience being a spiritual-social advocate in the public square. He has received numerous awards and national recognition for his work in the areas of social justice, political empowerment and humanitarian efforts. He was recognized multiple times as one of the 100 most influential people in Rochester, New York.

Rev. Dr. McReynolds has served in many capacities. He has served as a Vice-President of the Empire Baptist Convention of New York and as Vice-Moderator of Baptist Conventions in New York and Ohio. Currently he serves as a Social Justice Commissioner for the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.

Rev. Dr. McReynolds has been blessed with many years of marriage and four children. He is excited to lead St. Paul Baptist Church, which is Idaho’s oldest predominantly African American Baptist Church, which has evolved into a dynamic and loving multi-cultural congregation. He is excited about reaching the city of Boise and the entire Treasure Valley region for the cause of Jesus Christ. He is looking forward to leading this dynamic congregation into a season of growth as the region of Boise, Idaho has been recently identified as one of the fastest growing economic and population areas in America. 

Rev. Dr. McReynolds favorite scripture is, Galatians 6:1, “Brethren, if any man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual restore such a one with meekness, considering yourself, lest thou also be tempted.”
